Hot Stone Massage at Home
Hot Stone massage uses smooth basalt stones heated to between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius. The stones are not just placed on the body. They are used as a massage tool. Your therapist works with the stones in hand, using their heat and weight to reach depths that hands alone cannot.
The heat from the stones penetrates 3 to 4 centimetres into the muscle tissue, far deeper than manual pressure. Muscles that have been tight for months release within minutes of stone contact. It is particularly effective for people who have tried regular massage and found it does not go deep enough, but do not want the discomfort of Deep Tissue work.
Benefits of Hot Stone massage at home
- Penetrates 3 to 4 centimetres into muscle tissue, deeper than hands can reach through manual pressure alone
- Releases chronic muscle tightness that regular massage has not resolved
- Improves blood circulation. Heat causes blood vessels to dilate and increases flow to tight areas
- Relieves joint stiffness, particularly effective in cold weather when muscles contract
- Deeply calming effect on the nervous system through sustained heat contact
- Reduces inflammation in chronically tight muscle groups
- Leaves muscles feeling looser and more mobile for several days after the session
Who is Hot Stone massage best for
Hot Stone massage works best for people with chronic muscle tightness that regular massage has not fully resolved, anyone who finds Deep Tissue too uncomfortable but needs deeper work than Swedish provides, people who feel the cold strongly and carry tension that worsens in winter, and anyone who wants the most deeply relaxing session on our menu. It is the heaviest and most immersive of all the services we offer.
What happens during a Hot Stone session
Your therapist arrives with a stone-heating kit alongside the standard massage table setup. The basalt stones, smooth, flat and oval, are heated in water to the precise temperature before the session begins. Setup takes slightly longer than a standard session (around 15 minutes), as the stones need to reach the right temperature.
The session begins with standard massage strokes to warm the tissue. Heated stones are then placed on key points along the spine, between the toes, on the palms and across the shoulders. Your therapist works with additional stones in hand, using them to stroke and knead the muscle groups with a combination of heat and pressure.
The stones cool during use and are regularly exchanged for freshly heated ones throughout the session. Cooler stones are occasionally used on inflamed areas to reduce swelling. The alternation between hot and cool creates a pumping effect in the circulatory system that accelerates muscle recovery.
What makes basalt stones effective
Basalt is a volcanic rock that retains heat longer than any other stone type used in massage
The weight of the stones adds passive pressure even when placed still on the body
Heat causes muscle fibres to lengthen and release without requiring force
Smooth edges allow fluid strokes across large muscle groups
Stones placed on energy points along the spine have a calming effect on the entire nervous system

Book on WhatsAppCommon questions about Hot Stone massage
How hot are the stones?
The stones are heated to between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius, warm enough to penetrate deep into the muscle tissue but not hot enough to burn the skin. Your therapist checks the temperature before each stone contacts your skin. Tell them immediately if anything feels too hot.
Is Hot Stone massage suitable for everyone?
Hot Stone massage is not recommended if you are pregnant, have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions, skin conditions or are taking blood thinners. The heat increases circulation significantly which can be contraindicated for these conditions. If you have any medical condition, check with your doctor before booking.
How is Hot Stone different from Deep Tissue?
Deep Tissue uses manual pressure to work into tight muscle groups, so it can feel uncomfortable. Hot Stone uses heat to achieve a similar depth of release with far less pressure. It is the better choice for people who want deep work without the intensity of Deep Tissue.
Will the stones leave marks on my skin?
No. The stones are smooth basalt with no sharp edges. They may leave a temporary redness from the heat. This is normal and fades within 30 minutes.
Why does Hot Stone take 75 minutes minimum?
The stones need time to work on each area. Rushing the session reduces the benefit. 75 minutes is the minimum to cover the full back, shoulders and legs properly. We recommend 90 minutes for a complete full-body experience.
Can I book Hot Stone massage same day?
Yes. Same-day bookings are available across all 18 cities from 8AM to 11PM. Hot Stone requires slightly more setup time so we recommend booking at least 3 hours in advance to ensure stone heating equipment is prepared.
